Library Events & Programming


Family programs are designed for all ages to attend.These would include the Family Movie Nights and exhibits planned throughout the year.

Children can make free holiday crafts at the Library booth during the City of Garland’s Christmas on the Square event. Stop by the Library booth for information about library services and meet Paddington Bear from the popular children’s picture book series by Michael Bond. Visit the Friends of the Library booth for an additional craft.

Due to weather conditions, Christmas on the Square events are subject to change and/or cancellation. Crafts will be available while supplies last. Lego 2 movie posterFamily Movie: The Lego Movie 2 at the Walnut Creek Branch Library

Bring a blanket and attend a free movie with your family. In The Lego Movie 2, five years have passed and everything is no longer awesome in Bricksburg. Aliens from the planet Duplo have invaded and are destroying everything faster than it can it be rebuilt. It will take all the courage and creativity Emmett, Lucy, and Batman have to set things right. The movie is rated PG.

Doors open 15 minutes prior to the event. Seating is limited. No registration is required, and all ages may attend these events. Refreshments are available while supplies last.

Learn the best ways to ensure the safety of your furry friend at this informational meeting. Learn about dog-safe foods, leash safety, pet sitters/boarding, dog interactions, inclement weather, and medical preparedness.

No registration required. This event is hosted by the Garland Public Libraries, in association with Garland Animal Services, and presented by Amanda Fedric Dog Training.  Families are welcome to attend but please leave the pups at home.

Join us for a festive music, movement, and holiday storytime on the Square in Downtown Garland. Kids and families will learn about different holidays in the winter season through stories as well as sing songs, and use egg shakers to add percussion. Santa will be there!

Pokemon logoCatch Pokémon and Earn Z-Crystals at the North Garland Branch Library

Pokémon enthusiasts may visit the North Garland Branch Library to participate in a Pokémon-themed scavenger hunt. The scavenger hunt will consist of eight activities that will help patrons learn about their library. Participants will earn one Z-Crystal from the Alola region for each activity completed.
