Where the Heart Is - tHE oAKS NEIGHBORHOOD
What It Is
Where the Heart Is creates and sustains vibrant, thriving neighborhoods through physical, social and community enhancements including:
Community – bring everyone to the table to pool resources, leverage skills and man power to achieve neighborhood success
Physical – promote home improvement and neighborhood wide projects on Neighbors Helping Neighbors Day
Social – educate, equip and empower residents to collectively improve their neighborhood
How It Works
In partnership with you, your neighbors, the City of Garland and other allies, we are strengthening Garland one neighborhood at a time. The process includes:
Evaluate the targeted neighborhood
Identify neighborhood needs, potential projects and community partners
Engage residents and community partners for ideas, feedback and action
Improve curb appeal and neighborhood assets in partnership with residents on Neighbors Helping Neighbors Day
Celebrate a job well done and sustain engagement in the neighborhood
A big THANKS! to everyone who helped with the 2019 WHERE THE HEART IS: Neighbors Helping Neighbors Day on April 27. Over 50 volunteers lent a hand to work on five home repair projects and one community mural project. Check out the video below for a recap of the day.
